Who will win the EURO 2008 ?

Even as this article goes online on the 19th of June 2008, finally there is clarity on the 8 teams who have qualified for the Quarterfinal round of the EURO 2008, after lot of chaos in Group C.

So…..Who will win the EURO 2008?

It’s relatively tough to predict the outcome of a Football series than a Cricket series, as Football has certain idiosyncrasies of its own, which are more complex than Cricket.

1. Cricketers can carry an injury and play along, just as Graeme Smith did for Rajasthan Royals in the Semi finals of the IPL tournament, but the footballers are immediately replaced, even if they are the Captains of their teams. Eg: Italy’s Fabio Cannavaro missed the tournament due to injury and France’s Patrick Vieira’s journey was cut short in the first game itself. All astrological calculations can go awry if any team’s captain is injured at any stage of the tournament, especially if it happens during Quarterfinals or later.



2. A Cricket coach has very little bearing on the match once it starts. But the Football coach’s decision to replace a player during the match can have a lasting impression on the outcome of the match. Hence the Football coach’s horoscope too is important in the scheme of things, which only adds to the complications.



3. Usual handicap of unavailability of birth time and not so authentic birthdates.

After lots of research and deliberations on the EURO history, past teams, coaches and captains who have won the cups before and also the present teams, captains and coaches, we have zeroed in on a team which would win the EURO 2008.

Also, watch out for team Russia, which would pose a threat to some teams and cause some major upsets.
